A stuning Italian late 19th century orientaliste white Carrara marble sculpture « Jeune fille à la cruche ».
Signed and noted Firenze on the back, Florentin work Circa 1895.
The beautifull young lady is standing next to a wel dressed in richly sculpted flowing period attire with her hair wrapped in a head scarf, one hand holding an urn the other hand at her shoulder.
The wonderfully executed and most charming statue displays a square base beneath an earth like ground.
Fernando Vicchi was a central figure in the realisation of marble sculptures from the Florentin scène at the end of the 19th Century.
His works were first produced for the BAZZANTI gallery that opened in 1822 and still active today.Vicchis’ compositions varies in matter of subjects from antique inspired buste, to renaissance style works and also to more orientaliste type of work of which our marble is a perfect exemple.
