Advertising poster for Intercontinental Air Transport (TAI) created by Hervé Morvan crica 1955 to promote tourism in the South Pacific.
In the center of the poster, a woman wears a flower necklace, typical of the Polynesian Islands (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc...). As a pareo, the artist chose to represent a conch. Indeed, the woman seems to emerge from a shell. She holds a palm tree in her hand. In the background, there is a TAI plane in flight.
Transports Aériens Intercontinentaux (TAI) was a private French company created in 1946 and based at Orly Airport, Paris. In 1963, it merged with Union Aéromaritime de Transport to form UTA French Airlines.
The “Winged Griffin holding the world in its claws”, the TAI emblem, is at the bottom left of the poster.

Hervé Morvan trained at the Duperré School of Applied Arts in Paris where he learned to master mural art, fresco and stained glass. He turned to advertising illustration. His first poster was printed in 1942. He designed more than 150 film posters and produced images for Gévéor wine, Gitane cigarettes, Kelton watches ... He is the author of the stylized versions of the Senegalese soldier (“tirailleur Sénégalais”) Banania poster made in the 1950s.

Like other poster artists of this period (Villemot and Savignac), Morvan was inspired by the work of Cassandre, Loupot and Carlu.
